So thrilled to share another vendor spotlight with you this week, this time with

Colorado Wedding Planner Maggie Boesen Co.

Maggie and I share a heart for intimate events, and I just melted the first time I saw that the headline on her website is “we focus on the joy of gathering.” Weddings are such a unique time to get to really ground into the joy of quality time, with your favorite people all in one spot, while the joy and love are just overflowing. It’s such a beautiful touch point to look back on throughout your journey together. It’s one of my core values in the couples I love to create with!

So I’m so excited to share more of Maggie’s inspiration and vision with you today!

Thanks so much for joining us today, Maggie! Can you introduce yourself for our readers?

I’m Maggie, a wedding planner based in Denver, Colorado. I started Maggie Boesen Co. in 2019 but began my career in event planning over 10 years ago after graduating with a degree in event management. Before breaking out on my own, I worked alongside other planners and at venues honing my planning chops. Other than weddings, I helped plan wine, beer, and food festivals. What got you started in planning weddings?

I’ve always LOVED weddings. The first planner I worked with mostly focused on larger community events, but I had the opportunity to help her with a couple of weddings and thought they were so special. After moving to Colorado, I noticed a lot of venues required a day of coordinator, so that’s what led me to take the leap and create my own planning company.

What inspires you most in your work (and/or life)?

My couples inspire me! Getting a sense of what they want their day to look and feel like gets me so giddy to help bring that vision to life.

What are your all time favorite weddings or designs? What did you love about them?

It’s hard to choose! The most memorable weddings to me are those that put a unique spin on the design to make it match the couple’s personality. I had one last year at The Manor House that used books and a bookshelf with guests’ names as the seating chart. Then, each seat had a leather napkin ring with the guests’ name on it. Everything was so cozy and reflected the couple who were self-proclaimed homebodies.

I personally love to mix and match colors and textures in design. I love when we can have a little fun with things and when couples aren’t afraid to get a little funky.

What are some qualities of couples you really love working with (what are your client “green flags”)?

Love this question! I really enjoy working with couples who I can tell are excited to get married. I want my couples to find joy in the wedding planning process, and I hope to bring that out for each of them. The best couples are always the ones that trust me and the process.

If you could plan/design a wedding anywhere in the world, what’s the dream?

I love being a wedding planner based in a location that is a destination for many couples, however, if I could choose to plan and design a wedding anywhere in the world, it would be Italy. Drop me in any region of that country and I would be over the moon. There’s so much beauty everywhere you turn and you just know that everyone would have a blast at that wedding!

Thanks so much for joining us and sharing more, Maggie! If you’re interested in learning more or working with Maggie, you can check out her website here: Colorado Wedding Planner or give her a follow on Instagram!

BEHIND THE LENS

A note from Jen

Purpose and passion and the lessons of over 17 years of weddings...

I'm writing this today staring out at the bright blue Colorado sky, near Boulder, CO where I live with my husband of nearly 17 years and our 8 year old son. We moved here to chase the mountains and adventure and a life fully lived, after over a decade in Nashville, TN.

It might seem silly to say that I believe part of my purpose here on this earth is creating photos at people’s weddings. But here’s the thing. Life is absolutely going to life. There are going to be days and seasons that are freaking hard and awful and the world feels like it’s burning down (literally, metaphorically, in all the ways). And there are going to be days full of so much love and joy and bliss and peace that you wish you could just bottle it up for all time.

And I feel so strongly that that’s WHY a wedding matters. And why your photos matter. And why making it so intentional and purposeful to you matters. To create the space to intentionally create beautiful new memories together. Because it’s a weekend to say that this love (yes, all love) and these people (yes, all people) MATTER. It exists. It is real. And it’s worth celebrating the f*** out of. In a radical defiance of everything telling us to be scared and wall up our hearts.

And it’s worth documenting. My purpose in this is to be present with what’s there on your wedding day—all the joy, love, and whatever else is showing up—and creating the record of it. A record of what is true to you. So that when the days hit hard, you can point back at this anchor of joy and love, and know that it exists. It is real. It is worth celebrating.

Sending all the love, wherever this journey of life is meeting you today. xoxo, Jen
