The series of epic, adventurous, joyful love stories we got to document this summer pretty much makes me want to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming! Seriously, so much awesome. We are SO excited to share more today from Denise and Korry’s Fall Creek Falls adventure elopement. When I first talked with Denise, she told me about how they had been planning a big wedding, but as they got into it, they knew deep down that what would be the most them was a calm and private day in the peace of nature, with just a few people. I love so much that they listened to that tug on their heart and made it happen!

They traveled from their home in NYC down to an amazing AirBnB in Cookeville, where they got ready before we all headed out to Fall Creek Falls! They were joined by Denise’s dad, sister, brother in law (who performed the ceremony!), and nephew. Chris and I had gone out to Fall Creek Falls a few months earlier and scouted a few general areas that met their wish list (trees, hills, and water!), but we were mostly all in for the adventure together! We had been concerned about the potential for August heat, but the day was unseasonably cool and rainy, which made it even more beautiful as the clouds and mist came through the Tennessee hills. They chose the overlook for the main falls for their ceremony, which was so perfectly sweet, emotional, and true to them. They were also joined by a small crowd of onlookers who cheered as they were pronounced husband and wife! After the ceremony, we adventured around and explored. These two are so full of joy, and it was so inspiring to watch them take in the views and soak in being newly married!

On to some of our favorites of the day!

Checking out the falls and picking their ceremony spot!

I just adore this candid moment of Denise taking in the view!  <3

The smoky clouds through the trees is just such an iconic Tennessee thing to me. So beautiful.

Congratulations, Denise and Korry! We are so happy for you both, and it was such a joy to be on this adventure with you and document all these amazing moments. You both are so sweet, and we wish you a lifetime of happiness and adventure ahead!

Thank you all for stopping by the blog! If you’re a couple looking for an adventure, natural photos that look like you, we’d love to chat more with you!

BEHIND THE LENS

A note from Jen

Purpose and passion and the lessons of over 17 years of weddings...

I'm writing this today staring out at the bright blue Colorado sky, near Boulder, CO where I live with my husband of nearly 17 years and our 8 year old son. We moved here to chase the mountains and adventure and a life fully lived, after over a decade in Nashville, TN.

It might seem silly to say that I believe part of my purpose here on this earth is creating photos at people’s weddings. But here’s the thing. Life is absolutely going to life. There are going to be days and seasons that are freaking hard and awful and the world feels like it’s burning down (literally, metaphorically, in all the ways). And there are going to be days full of so much love and joy and bliss and peace that you wish you could just bottle it up for all time.

And I feel so strongly that that’s WHY a wedding matters. And why your photos matter. And why making it so intentional and purposeful to you matters. To create the space to intentionally create beautiful new memories together. Because it’s a weekend to say that this love (yes, all love) and these people (yes, all people) MATTER. It exists. It is real. And it’s worth celebrating the f*** out of. In a radical defiance of everything telling us to be scared and wall up our hearts.

And it’s worth documenting. My purpose in this is to be present with what’s there on your wedding day—all the joy, love, and whatever else is showing up—and creating the record of it. A record of what is true to you. So that when the days hit hard, you can point back at this anchor of joy and love, and know that it exists. It is real. It is worth celebrating.

Sending all the love, wherever this journey of life is meeting you today. xoxo, Jen
