bride and groom at the Hermitage HotelHello, everyone!

I hope you are all having a great start to your week! We are excited to share some of our favorite images from Mallory and Andrew’s classic Nashville wedding today! We actually didn’t meet these two until after they had booked with us, thanks to the recommendation of one of our favorite planners, Janie. We met them several months later, along with Mallory’s parents, and knew right away what a sweet and special couple they were, and how excited we were to celebrate with them!

Mallory and Andrew met through the Navy, initially introduced while Andrew was finishing his training and preparing to transfer to the USS OSCAR AUSTIN, where Mallory was serving. Mallory, who is a huge New Orleans Saints fan, notes that this was also the same day the Saints won the Super Bowl! Aboard the ship, Andrew was placed on Mallory’s watch team, and they spent many hours a day carrying out operations together, and many long nights of great conversations. Many of these were about what is most important to them–their faith. They quickly became friends, and that friendship grew over the next two years. They both felt something more, but since dating was discouraged among shipmates, they let it be. However, in late 2012, Andrew was preparing to transfer to another assignment, and they finally made it official! They were both deployed until into 2013, and finally reunited at Andrew’s homecoming that May. They were engaged in July 2013, and began their lives together on Saturday in one of the most beautiful ceremonies we have ever seen!

Their wedding day was absolutely perfect! They chose to do their wedding in Nashville, because Mallory is a Vanderbilt University alum, and they both love the city! The ceremony took place at St. Mary of the Seven Sorrows Church, one of the oldest churches in Nashville. The reception at the Hermitage Hotel was amazing! The whole day was so sweet, emotional, and full of love and joy from all sides. Their family and friends all made us feel so welcome, and I definitely teared up several times throughout the day 😉

So after that crazy long intro, here are a few of our favorite images of the day!

Mallory’s dance with her dad started out sweet, then switched to a fun uptempo song, then they busted it out to the Who Dat Nation theme song, in honor of the New Orleans Saints, and passed out beads to kick off the party!

BEHIND THE LENS

A note from Jen

Purpose and passion and the lessons of over 17 years of weddings...

I'm writing this today staring out at the bright blue Colorado sky, near Boulder, CO where I live with my husband of nearly 17 years and our 8 year old son. We moved here to chase the mountains and adventure and a life fully lived, after over a decade in Nashville, TN.

It might seem silly to say that I believe part of my purpose here on this earth is creating photos at people’s weddings. But here’s the thing. Life is absolutely going to life. There are going to be days and seasons that are freaking hard and awful and the world feels like it’s burning down (literally, metaphorically, in all the ways). And there are going to be days full of so much love and joy and bliss and peace that you wish you could just bottle it up for all time.

And I feel so strongly that that’s WHY a wedding matters. And why your photos matter. And why making it so intentional and purposeful to you matters. To create the space to intentionally create beautiful new memories together. Because it’s a weekend to say that this love (yes, all love) and these people (yes, all people) MATTER. It exists. It is real. And it’s worth celebrating the f*** out of. In a radical defiance of everything telling us to be scared and wall up our hearts.

And it’s worth documenting. My purpose in this is to be present with what’s there on your wedding day—all the joy, love, and whatever else is showing up—and creating the record of it. A record of what is true to you. So that when the days hit hard, you can point back at this anchor of joy and love, and know that it exists. It is real. It is worth celebrating.

Sending all the love, wherever this journey of life is meeting you today. xoxo, Jen
