I’m finally getting caught up on going through our personal images, and wanted to share some from our trip to Seattle in October of 2012 with you all! We’re pretty good about taking personal images (it’s one of our favorite ways to keep our creativity fresh!), but processing them…not so much 😉 We’re working on it! (Another reason we’ve been loving our Instax for personal moments! Instant print!) Anyway, this trip was incredible! A few of our past wedding clients live in Seattle, along with some awesome photographer friends, so we planned a trip to see them, photograph their families, do some personal work, and just get out explore and have an adventure. So fun! Here’s some of the highlights from the trip:

Wouldn’t be Seattle without a trip to Pike Place!

On our second day, we headed up to Snoqualmie Falls and up into the mountains with our awesome friends and guides, Airika and Gerald

So obviously this seems like no big deal with the snow everyone has gotten lately LOL, but in October 2012, it felt like it had been FOREVER since I had seen snow! So pretty 🙂

Another day, we drove up through the Olympic National Forest. We love driving and exploring on trips, and it was so gorgeous. I really even loved the overcast and clouds and intermittent rain!

We ended up at La Push (not because we’re huge Twilight fans! Although it was amusing to see all the Twilight stuff) to see the sea stacks–giant rock formations just off the coast. Absolutely incredible.

We had to hike a little ways to reach this beach, and it was almost spooky how quiet everything was. We were also in the rain forest at this point, which was pretty awesome!

One of my favorites of the trip!

We also got to photograph some awesome people! Including past wedding clients Carrie and Austin, and their dog, Icebox! They also let us stay with them for part of our trip, which we were SO thankful for!

And these cuties! Who are so much more grown up now I can hardly stand it 🙂 And a huge thanks to their parents, also past wedding clients, Steven and Priscilla for letting us stay with them for the other part of our trip!

We also did a session with illustrator Andy Musser as part of our Artist Project. He is seriously incredible, and one of the nicest people we’ve ever met!

The weather was absolutely GORGEOUS the last day we were in town! We went across the bay and had the incredible view of the skyline, along with a double rainbow

We also drove over to Whidbey Island (which is actually where my dad was stationed with the Marines when I was born! Fun facts about Jen Creed 😉 )

I can’t wait to go back! I think a little part of our hearts definitely belong in the Pacific Northwest. Thank you all for stopping by the blog, and happy Tuesday!

You two are absolutely incredible. You have done well with your God given talent. I want to go to Washington now and see all these things I haven’t seen in all the times I have been there. Thanks for sharing.

BEHIND THE LENS

A note from Jen

Purpose and passion and the lessons of over 17 years of weddings...

I'm writing this today staring out at the bright blue Colorado sky, near Boulder, CO where I live with my husband of nearly 17 years and our 8 year old son. We moved here to chase the mountains and adventure and a life fully lived, after over a decade in Nashville, TN.

It might seem silly to say that I believe part of my purpose here on this earth is creating photos at people’s weddings. But here’s the thing. Life is absolutely going to life. There are going to be days and seasons that are freaking hard and awful and the world feels like it’s burning down (literally, metaphorically, in all the ways). And there are going to be days full of so much love and joy and bliss and peace that you wish you could just bottle it up for all time.

And I feel so strongly that that’s WHY a wedding matters. And why your photos matter. And why making it so intentional and purposeful to you matters. To create the space to intentionally create beautiful new memories together. Because it’s a weekend to say that this love (yes, all love) and these people (yes, all people) MATTER. It exists. It is real. And it’s worth celebrating the f*** out of. In a radical defiance of everything telling us to be scared and wall up our hearts.

And it’s worth documenting. My purpose in this is to be present with what’s there on your wedding day—all the joy, love, and whatever else is showing up—and creating the record of it. A record of what is true to you. So that when the days hit hard, you can point back at this anchor of joy and love, and know that it exists. It is real. It is worth celebrating.

Sending all the love, wherever this journey of life is meeting you today. xoxo, Jen
