best Breckenridge engagement photosIf I’ve ever met two people who believe in adventure and in living an amazing story, it’s Ross and Griffin. These high school sweethearts met through choir in Lexington, KY, went to college in Nashville, and are now preparing to start their life together in Colorado! The way they love each other, support each other, and laugh together is absolutely beautiful. They are both brilliant entrepreneurs, and Griffin is opening a Pure Barre studio in Colorado Springs, and Ross is the creator and CEO of Picture Booth. Their love for life and the way they pursue their dreams is truly inspiring! When we were discussing their wedding, Griffin mentioned that she had always wanted to have engagement photos done in a ski town, and we told her we would love to make that happen! So we packed up and headed west, never dreaming of the adventures we would find. We started off in Denver, for a few photos in one of their favorite neighborhoods, then headed for the mountains. Chris spotted a lake on the way to Breckenridge that is probably now on my list of top favorite spots ever! Then we continued on for some Breckenridge engagement photos before heading up Boreas Pass to explore (thanks to our friend Chris Scott for the recommendation!!).

Here are a few (ok, a lot  😉 ) of our favorites from day one’s adventures!

Funny story. Chris took this picture, and got really excited. Then I had a very under-whelming response, which gave everyone a good laugh, and proceeded to take what I thought would be a better picture. Nope, Chris’s was definitely more awesome!

Self timer for the win!

Beautiful sunset as we headed back down to Breckenridge from Boreas Pass

Shortly before our trip, I read the book A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by Donald Miller. Once I started writing down favorite quotes, I practically transcribed the whole book haha. But one of my favorite favorites was “The mountains themselves call us to better stories.” Ross and Griffin, thanks for inviting us to the mountains, going on adventures with us, allowing us to create for you, and for setting an example of living an incredible story! You two are awesome 🙂

Check back on Thursday, when we’ll share part two of our adventures, which took place in one of the most epic and incredible locations I’ve ever seen with my own eyes! We’d also love to have you join us on Facebook and Instagram (@jencreed and @chriscreed)! Thanks for stopping by, and we hope you’re all having a great week!

BEHIND THE LENS

A note from Jen

Purpose and passion and the lessons of over 17 years of weddings...

I'm writing this today staring out at the bright blue Colorado sky, near Boulder, CO where I live with my husband of nearly 17 years and our 8 year old son. We moved here to chase the mountains and adventure and a life fully lived, after over a decade in Nashville, TN.

It might seem silly to say that I believe part of my purpose here on this earth is creating photos at people’s weddings. But here’s the thing. Life is absolutely going to life. There are going to be days and seasons that are freaking hard and awful and the world feels like it’s burning down (literally, metaphorically, in all the ways). And there are going to be days full of so much love and joy and bliss and peace that you wish you could just bottle it up for all time.

And I feel so strongly that that’s WHY a wedding matters. And why your photos matter. And why making it so intentional and purposeful to you matters. To create the space to intentionally create beautiful new memories together. Because it’s a weekend to say that this love (yes, all love) and these people (yes, all people) MATTER. It exists. It is real. And it’s worth celebrating the f*** out of. In a radical defiance of everything telling us to be scared and wall up our hearts.

And it’s worth documenting. My purpose in this is to be present with what’s there on your wedding day—all the joy, love, and whatever else is showing up—and creating the record of it. A record of what is true to you. So that when the days hit hard, you can point back at this anchor of joy and love, and know that it exists. It is real. It is worth celebrating.

Sending all the love, wherever this journey of life is meeting you today. xoxo, Jen
