So we’ve got something a little different to share today! I was excited to be chosen as a Fossil fall style partner, and really love these items from their fall line! I’ve always been a Fossil fan (in fact, if you’ve seen me over the last three years or so you’ve probably not seen me without my trusty Fossil watch the Chris got me for Christmas in 2010!), which makes it extra awesome 🙂 Working from home, my personal style from day to day more often than not consists of leggings and sweatshirts haha. But when we are out of the house, we could be doing anything from climbing mountains to meeting with clients, so I like to have some flexibility between casual and professional!

I’m definitely not used to being on this side of the camera, but hey, it’s good to get out of your comfort zone every once in awhile, right?! And Chris of course did an awesome job behind the camera 🙂 We decided to take a few images before and during our sailing day trip with family on the Chesapeake Bay a few weeks ago, which was SO fun!

I’m seriously in love with this watch, which has over taken my old one for daily wear! But the Preston tote definitely comes in as a close second favorite! The sparkly accent on the bottom and sides is perfect, and it’s been great for hauling around anything I might need–including my stack of photo prints from some of our summer adventures!

The indigo dyed sweatshirt is the perfect mix of comfortable and stylish, and I love the contrasting edginess of the necklace!

Once we got a little farther into fall and the weather cooled down, it was great to have this blazer to layer on to the look!

Thanks to Fossil for such a fun opportunity, and thanks to everyone for stopping by the blog! In case you missed it, be sure to check out Lauren & Jeff’s wedding, and keep an eye out for some favorites from Melissa and Dustin’s engagement session later today!

BEHIND THE LENS

A note from Jen

Purpose and passion and the lessons of over 17 years of weddings...

I'm writing this today staring out at the bright blue Colorado sky, near Boulder, CO where I live with my husband of nearly 17 years and our 8 year old son. We moved here to chase the mountains and adventure and a life fully lived, after over a decade in Nashville, TN.

It might seem silly to say that I believe part of my purpose here on this earth is creating photos at people’s weddings. But here’s the thing. Life is absolutely going to life. There are going to be days and seasons that are freaking hard and awful and the world feels like it’s burning down (literally, metaphorically, in all the ways). And there are going to be days full of so much love and joy and bliss and peace that you wish you could just bottle it up for all time.

And I feel so strongly that that’s WHY a wedding matters. And why your photos matter. And why making it so intentional and purposeful to you matters. To create the space to intentionally create beautiful new memories together. Because it’s a weekend to say that this love (yes, all love) and these people (yes, all people) MATTER. It exists. It is real. And it’s worth celebrating the f*** out of. In a radical defiance of everything telling us to be scared and wall up our hearts.

And it’s worth documenting. My purpose in this is to be present with what’s there on your wedding day—all the joy, love, and whatever else is showing up—and creating the record of it. A record of what is true to you. So that when the days hit hard, you can point back at this anchor of joy and love, and know that it exists. It is real. It is worth celebrating.

Sending all the love, wherever this journey of life is meeting you today. xoxo, Jen
