*12/2024 Update* This post from 2017 has been getting lots of views lately, so I just wanted to drop a note to say Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Jen, and I specialize in documenting intentional, intimate, experiential destination wedding weekends. My approach is centered around the moments that matter most to you, and creating images that feel natural and tell your story. Because I want you to not just have fun looking at your images right after the wedding, but to be able to look back at them for decades to come and remember how it felt to be surrounded by the love and joy of the people who mean the most to you.

If you’re planning a wedding on the Oregon coast and think it’s as magical as I do, and are in need of a photographer, I’d love to get you more info. Check out the info page on the website, more recent portfolio work, and/or reach out to check availability and get all the info you need!*

Happy weekend, everyone!

Today we are SO excited to be sharing some of our favorites from Stephanie and Justin’s Cannon Beach wedding with you! I don’t even know where to begin to talk about how awesome these two are. We first met Stephanie and Justin because they were initially planning to get married in Nashville, where Justin’s family is from. But as they got into the planning, they knew deep down that it would be way more true to their relationship and personalities to get married on the Oregon coast, outside of where they live in Portland, OR.

The Oregon coast is such a special place, and if you’ve never been there, I highly recommend it. There’s something magical about it that is hard to put in to words. It’s a place where you feel called to slow down and unplug, and a place where the real moments of life really catch up to you, and you have the space to sink into them. The coast is special to Stephanie and Justin’s relationship, a place where they’ve spent many days camping and hiking and walking the coast. Setting up bonfires on the beach and watching the sunset. So it was so completely perfect that they structured their wedding day around those things that they love so much, and shared it with their families! It was just the right amount of “outside the box,” with starting the day with their first look at Ecola State Park (instead of starting with getting ready photos!). Starting away from the bustle of the wedding preparations, in a place they’ve spent so much time, it was so sweet to see their connection! And you can’t beat those vibrant PNW greens and the incredible view of Haystack Rock from Ecola!

Their ceremony was so sweet and personal to them, on the beach with Haystack Rock in the background, and was followed by such a fun reception! Their friends and family took in the views, and instead of cake, everyone enjoyed locally made ice cream sandwiches (which were incredible!). As they’ve done so many times before, Stephanie and Justin walked along the beach at sunset before joining everyone for s’mores and a bonfire! Could there be a better way to end a wedding day?!

It was such an honor to be along on this adventure! Check out just a few (ok, a ton!) of our favorites!

Stephanie and Justin: CONGRATULATIONS!! We are so happy for you all, and it was such a joy to create for you. Thank you for inviting us along on this adventure!! Thank you for sharing your favorite spots and your stories with us. You two are truly inspiring!

BEHIND THE LENS

A note from Jen

Purpose and passion and the lessons of over 17 years of weddings...

I'm writing this today staring out at the bright blue Colorado sky, near Boulder, CO where I live with my husband of nearly 17 years and our 8 year old son. We moved here to chase the mountains and adventure and a life fully lived, after over a decade in Nashville, TN.

It might seem silly to say that I believe part of my purpose here on this earth is creating photos at people’s weddings. But here’s the thing. Life is absolutely going to life. There are going to be days and seasons that are freaking hard and awful and the world feels like it’s burning down (literally, metaphorically, in all the ways). And there are going to be days full of so much love and joy and bliss and peace that you wish you could just bottle it up for all time.

And I feel so strongly that that’s WHY a wedding matters. And why your photos matter. And why making it so intentional and purposeful to you matters. To create the space to intentionally create beautiful new memories together. Because it’s a weekend to say that this love (yes, all love) and these people (yes, all people) MATTER. It exists. It is real. And it’s worth celebrating the f*** out of. In a radical defiance of everything telling us to be scared and wall up our hearts.

And it’s worth documenting. My purpose in this is to be present with what’s there on your wedding day—all the joy, love, and whatever else is showing up—and creating the record of it. A record of what is true to you. So that when the days hit hard, you can point back at this anchor of joy and love, and know that it exists. It is real. It is worth celebrating.

Sending all the love, wherever this journey of life is meeting you today. xoxo, Jen
