Talking with Katie about her wedding day, one phrase that stood out to me that she used was “pure joy.” The way Katie and Art were so excited to see their story come together, for their families to join as one, to celebrate all love, and just to see the joy of the day was so inspiring. The day dawned hot and humid (hello, Nashville!), and gave way later to heavy storms, but “pure joy” was still the perfect way to describe every second! The rain made it perfectly imperfect in the most beautiful way, in the way that only life can be. Staring down a possible forecast of rain for your outdoor wedding can be daunting for any bride, but Katie shared the sweetest story with me about how she came to have peace about whatever would happen and to find the joy in it. I won’t even attempt to re-tell it, but I just love how intentional these two are about their lives!
And that’s pretty much why we love Katie and Art! We had the best time getting to know these two through their wedding planning and their This is Us engagement session in Chicago. They planned an incredibly sweet wedding ceremony at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, followed by a super fun reception at Ruby! There were nods to Art’s Ukrainian heritage, and tons of laughter and love. With so many incredible moments it was pretty much impossible to narrow this down to a reasonable number of images, but here are some of our favorites from the day!
