Hello, everyone!

After what seemed like weeks of endless, cloudy, rainy days, Friday was absolutely GORGEOUS for Lisa and Jonathan’s wedding at Cedarwood! It’s been almost a year since we had a wedding there, and we couldn’t have been happier to be back! It was like seeing an old friend, and it was great to see all the new things they’ve added since the last time we were there. And having such a genuinely sweet couple to photograph made it all the better! I love the way Lisa tells the story of the beginning of their relationship:

“Lisa and Jonathan are yoga teachers whose fates intertwined at a yoga studio on the upper west side of Manhattan. On their first meeting, at a teacher orientation, Jonathan noticed Lisa and kept his interest close to the vest, while Lisa apparently remained somewhat aloof. On their second meeting, however, Lisa was quite warm and friendly, to Jonathan’s surprise, and they continued to enjoy their interactions as their Sunday classes were back-to-back.

About a month later, Lisa invited Jonathan to take her restorative class and he accepted. He remembered how soothing her vocal instructions and healing administration of lavender oil were to his hands as he lay in a relaxing pose (viparita karani). After the class, she looked at his face and said, “Wow! You really needed that!” Pridefully, believing himself to be already stress-free, he was slightly taken aback by her appraisal of his radical transformation. However, he decided to be grateful instead of holding on to his pride, and they went out afterwards for a bite.

At the restaurant, Jonathan learned that Lisa was a woman for whom honesty, integrity, and the truth is the most important thing. Lisa learned that Jonathan orders the special off the menu without asking for the price, and then finds out it was $37! On the subway ride, Lisa also discovered that Jonathan has a very sweet soul. A few days later, Jonathan invited Lisa out for his birthday, and Lisa picked the restaurant, No. 28- an Italian restaurant on Carmine Street in the Village. Jonathan pointed out that number 28 means the power of cooperation and balance to create abundance and greater fulfillment in life, according to numerology. She liked that. This was followed by improvised tango dancing and a goodnight kiss that left Lisa wondering…

Then, Lisa and Jonathan went out on their first “unofficial/official date,” an occasion in which Jonathan was stuck on the subway and arrived 45 minutes late while Lisa patiently waited at the ping pong club bar. It is an incident in which the song “I will wait for you” by Mumford and Sons took on a special meaning and became one of their “songs.” It was also the night of their first real kiss in front of the 23rd Street subway station and the beginning of their life journey together in balance and cooperation, towards abundance and greater fulfillment.”

So sweet! Lisa and Jonathan love the outdoors, so Cedarwood was the perfect location for them to come together to celebrate with their friends and family! Their friends from NYC definitely brought the party with them, and the reception dancing kicked off with “I Will Wait for You” by Mumford and Sons, which is a special song for Lisa and Jonathan!
